.TraumaCheez is a San Francisco alt-rock band led by singer-songwriter Hill Lu. Rooted in punk, with the muscle of grunge and the reach of prog, the band fuses the Western indie spirit with the East Asian rock Hill grew up on, and writes in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Their songs are for outsiders and overthinkers: a satirical stomp aimed at rock's gatekeepers, a pop-punk love letter to a Hayley Williams hair-care ad, a space prog ballad about being rescued by aliens. Underneath the jokes is an elegy for a lost hero.
Sonic references: Paramore, Wolf Alice, The Cranberries, Pink Floyd, Radiohead - alongside the East Asian Rock that shaped Hill's playing: L'Arc‑en‑Ciel, Ellen Loo (盧凱彤), and Faye Wong.
Debut Single: Stay
"Stay" is a emotional journey about unexpected farewell, especially inspired and in memory of a Hong Kong indie musician, Ellen Loo (盧凱彤, 1986-2018).
The track is released on Aug 5, 2025 on all streaming platforms.
